SEAT Ibiza 1.9TDi S 3d (2004/04) Owner Review

Economy
Value
Much cheaper than the Polo although build quality could be better. Depreciates fast.
Costs
Typically 50+mpg and being insurance group 5 is cheaper than most 100bhp cars. Replacement tyres are also cheap. Servicing could be cheaper and £70 to check the tracking seems steep.

On the road
Driving
Plenty of torque at low revs and firm suspension making it feel solid in the corners. Car frequently grounds going over speed bumps.
Performance
Whilst I am beginning to find it frustratingly slow, for the price you get a car that feels quicker than its statistics might suggest. Not so great on a country road, but quick around town and on the motorway.

Living with it
Reliability
No serious problems but the suspension squeeks in the wet and there are frequent rattles. The spare tyre I was given had a faulty valve - Seat breakdown was not interested in helping either.
Image
Its pratical, but its a seat, and without alloys at that. If you are image concious, don't buy this.
Comfort
Odd shaped steering wheel is uncomfortable to hold but the seats hold you well and there is plenty of space in the front for 6ft+ occupants. Room in the back for adults for short trips.

Security and Service
Security
You'll need the SE for an alarm but no one has run away with it yet.
Service
Generally seem disinterested in helping when there is a problem. Breakdown service would not come out after I changed a tyre to find the spare seat had sold me was faulty.

Squeaking rear suspension in the wet - I've had the dealer look at this 3 times. No fix yet. Odd vibration coming from the engine bay often. Poor build quality - cup holder has fallen apart and glove box doesn't close properly unless slammed shut.
