SEAT Ibiza Hatchback 2002-

Want to know everything there is to know about this car?

  • Economy

    Value

    3 out of 5 3.0

You get what you pay for. The Ibiza is much cheaper that a Golf or even a Polo and it's not difficult to see why.

    Costs

    4 out of 5 4.0

It does 53 mpg and for a 100bhp car is reasonably cheap to insure.

  • On the road

    Driving

    3 out of 5 3.0

The VW PD diesel is disappointingly clattery, particularly at low speeds. Speed sensitive power steering is a delight.

    Performance

    4 out of 5 4.0

It's good as it stands, but goes even better with a Bromley's Tuning Unit. £500 for an extra 20bhp and nothing added to the insurance.

  • Living with it

    Reliability

    4 out of 5 4.0

There were a few niggly delivery faults, some of which have still not been rectified, but nothing else has gone wrong with it. The interior plastic marks easily.

    Image

    4 out of 5 4.0

Who cares about image? It's a practical car with looks that most would find smart enough.

    Comfort

    4 out of 5 4.0

Everything's adjustable and you can get very comfy. Climate control is very effective. Interior is a bit bland.

  • Security and Service

    Security

    4 out of 5 4.0

You'd need to crane it onto a lorry - unless you can steal the key, in which case the car is yours!

    Service

    1 out of 5 1.0

On the occasions I have had to deal with Seat U.K. and my local Seat dealer, both have been absolutely hopeless.

  • Problems and Ownership

    Problems

    Engine

No problems as such, it's just too noisy for a modern high-tech diesel

    Other

Faulty windscreen wipers, indicators, central locking and door open warning lamps on delivery.

    Ownership

Did you buy the car new?

    New

Would you buy the same model again?

    No

Did you buy from the same manufacturer again?
