Summary
What does this car say about you?
The car has a sporty appearance and has a very solid design. This is a great alternative to the vw golf and owning a leon says you're not the sort of person that goes with the flow.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
A lot of my friends have asked me how much I paid for it and have asked about the performance statistics etc with a view to getting one themselves. They enjoy being driven in the car and find it exhilarating.
Would you buy this car again and why?
I wouldn't buy the diesel again. The DPF is very annoying and I tried fuel supplements and the high octane fuel but neither worked so its a petrol version of the fr that's coming next.
What are you likely to buy next?
I'm going to buy the new fr 1.8 tsi petrol. Great performance and good economy.

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Franchised
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£8,900
When did you buy the car?
May 2011
Did you get a good deal and why?
I got the car from evans halshaw. They would not budge on the price and would not budge on their trade in on mine. The price for the car was pretty good hence buying it there.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
I had driven this as a courtesy car and particularly enjoyed it about 2 years previously so had aspired to own one since then.
What was the dealer like?
I didn't like them at all. The car was supposed to be ready on a particular day so I had sold my car ready to pick it up that day, but about half an hour before picking it up I got a phone call saying the car had no MOT so I couldn't take it. When I eventually picked up the car they had not taken out the blacked out windows that they had promised to do and refused to compensate me for it.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Absolutely great to drive. It has a great gearbox, tremendous acceleration and brilliant handling. you don't have to put any effort into it, at 70mph you are doing about 2000 revs and cruise control means that at this sort of speed you can be getting a return of 50mpg!
What's it like to park?
Very easy to park. Visibility is fine, its easy to manoeuvre and fits into most spaces.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
Yes the DPF-diesel particulate filter- was the most irritating thing about it. If you don't go on the motorway for a day the DPF light comes on and you have to go on the motorway to clear it. If you don't it goes into limp mode! Apparently you can get the dpf removed for about £400.
What's most practical about your car?
Its a very good all round car. It is a hatchback so I have been to the tip in it many times enabling me to clear whole rooms and even removed my whole kitchen and got it to the tip in 3 journeys. Its also very comfortable as an everyday car, economical but sporty and great fun to drive.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
The automatic lights and windscreen wipers are just brilliant. I love going through tunnels or even into underground car parks when the lights come on on their own.
