SEAT Leon Hatchback 1.8 20V T Cupra 5d (2001/Y) Owner Review

Economy
Value
1.8 Turbo engine, sports suspension, 6 disc changer, 6 speed box, climate control, electric & heated mirrors the list is endless and I only paid £8k for my 2001 model back in Feb 05 and it only had 24k on the clock - an absolute bargain.
Costs
Does like to drink the petrol, but then any 180bhp turbo'd car would be the same. I average about 280 miles to a tank full, but then again, I don't exactly drive conservatively.

On the road
Driving
Wonderful drive on B roads as well as motorway. Very smooth round the bends.
Performance
Astonishing for only 180bhp. Seen off many higher output cars such as high end BMW's, Mercs. Also seen off Civic Type-R's, Focus RS' and Cooper S' with ease! I will be getting a Jabbasport re-map which will easily push me over Cupra R performance!

Living with it
Reliability
It starts every day on the button. Never broken down or had any problems at all. Based on the Golf & A3 so reliability will be as good.
Image
Personally don't think the multi-spoke 16's suit it and I will be replacing with the 18"" 5 twin-spoke's from the Cupra R. Too much black plastic on the exterioir as well, but this affects most cars these days. Nothing the Cupra R body kit won't sort out!
Comfort
Sports seats make for a lovely comfortable ride. Climate keeps things nice and comfortable as well. Plenty of space up front as well and enough head room.

Security and Service
Security
Thatcham Cat 1 alarm with the alarm. Not had any security problems so un-faulted!
Service
Needed a new wing mirror due to someone smashing my to piece's and it was all done within a few days, very impressed and very polite. Use the WJ King SEAT garage in Sidcup!
