SEAT Mii (2012 - 2019) 1.0 Toca 5d Owner Review

In their own words
I wanted a second hand runaround that would be reliable and cheap to run. It certainly scores on that front - £150 a year insurance and £20 road tax. No reliability problems. It's pretty comfortable and quite nippy for a 1.0 three cylinder, there's plenty of space upfront and it handles well and feels very stable on the motorway, even in crosswinds. It also looks quite nice, particularly paired with the alloy wheels. Overall though, the driving experience and overall refinement is disappointing considering its VW underpinnings. The engine is not especially smooth at tickover and is a bit noisy, the gearbox is clunky, the clutch is heavy and you can hear the plate each time you change gear. It is not a smooth drive around town which I find strange, given it is meant to be a city car - it actually feels better at speed on the motorway or main roads. Other niggles include the sat nav which is a bit slow and reboots itself without warning, and the fact there is no switch for the passenger side electric window on the driver's side. I guess you get what you pay for - this has been built on a budget and it shows. Glad I bought secondhand - I would be seriously disappointed if I had splashed out for a new one.
