SEAT Toledo 2.0 16V 5d (1997/R) Owner Review

Economy
Value
Bough for £5,000. now offer £550 trade in. It's still worth at least £2,000 to me.
Costs
because of reliability very fair, although I would advise AA or RAC check when buying, as I missed a couple of oil leaks and the poor condition of the exhaust.

On the road
Driving
Fast cruiser and feels like a much smaller car around town. Ride caught out by ridges and potholes - just no suspension there!
Performance
Very enjoyable. Pulls well in fifth gear, so I rarely used forth.
-
Living with it
Reliability
Continues to exceed expectations.
Image
I have not come across the same model in this country, so it is unique for me, but little a known gem.
Comfort
Ride at slower speeds is poor except on good roads, but this is typical of Seat.
-
Security and Service
Security
Not to modern standards.
Service
Helpful, but don't use main dealer for servicing because of extra hourly rate - just unnecessary.

Problems and Ownership
Problems
Engine
None so far.
Other
Remarkably reliable for a "hot family hatch", better then Volkswagen upon which it is based?
