Economy
Value
I bought mine at 1 yr old, saving £4k versus list price. Depreciation greater than VW Golf or Bora because nobody's heard of the Seat version.
Costs
Servicing much cheaper than VW (but remember to change the cambelt every 60k miles, and it's worth driving up to Yorkshire or somewhere, you'll save at least £150 versus London or South-East prices for this). All day to day costs similar to Golf.

On the road
Driving
Engine quite strong, performance reasonably sporting.

Living with it
Reliability
In 65,000 miles the only item to be replaced was the remote locking fob (replaced free under 3 yr / 60k mile warranty).
Image
Not as strong as Golf or Bora, but so what, it's cheaper to service and to insure, and doesn't attract vandals or thieves.
Comfort
Good in the front, slightly cramped in the rear (but very big boot).

Security and Service
Security
Excellent, deadlocks all round. Safer than Golf because it doesn't attract vandals or thieves.
Service
Dealer very good, however when cambelt was replaced at 60k miles I went up to Barnsley to do this, and saved nearly £200 versus South-East prices.
