1.6 is competent; 1.8 20v is a strong all-rounder; V5 is potent but smooth and torquey; 1.9 TDi is efficient and willing; the latest 130 bhp and 150 bhp are fast and pleasing to drive – a real alternative to the performance petrols.
Makes the driver feel involved with strong grip, sharp handling and responsive engines; feels very safe and secure, but perhaps just a touch less agile than the old Toledo. The ride is supple over all but the roughest of surfaces.
