Skoda Citigo (2012 - 2019) 1.0 MPI SE GreenTech 5d Owner Review
Want to know everything there is to know about this car?
In their own words
I had my Citigo SE Greentech for two years, it was a very economical city car: 45~47mpg in town, 57mpg combined city traffic & motorways, 68mpg+ on the motorways. These figures based on my fueling records and my best record was 77mpg which I did a lot of country roads on that tank of petrol. Low insurance group means cheap to insure.
Outstanding safety equipment in its class & good overall crash test result (Although the 5-star NCAP rating had expired earlier this year).
Thanks to its boxy shape and small dimensions, all-round visibility is good, dead easy to park. The boot is a bit small which is expected for this class, but it is quite deep. I packed the camping equipment + personal belongings for two persons into the Citigo boot without any problem.
Surprisingly good handling and very fun to drive on country roads!
BUT! A big but: It is not reliable at all, here are the components failed during my two-year ownership: - Stiff handbrake (Skoda main dealership could not fix it) - Stiff gearbox & clutch (again, Skoda technician did not have a clue) - Malfunctioning rear heated screen - Malfunctioning air con - Malfunctioning brake servo - Coolant leak - PID / Bluetooth never works - Error code on emission - Error code on Stop/Start
It was fully serviced by Skoda main dealership under the manufacturer service schedule, but I nearly visited the dealership more than the petrol stations. And you could find out that these are common issues if you searched on VW UP! & Skoda forums.
I loved my Citigo, however, it failed to do the basic: being able to drive. So I'd sold it two months ago
