Skoda Fabia Estate 1.4 Classic 5d (2002/02) Owner Review

Economy
Value
If you can get over the badge, it's loads cheaper than a Polo, with a better spec.
Costs
Insurance is reasonable, but 1.4 8-valve engine has only average MPG (about 43 combined).

On the road
Driving
No problems, but not as involving as some. Chassis is very good.
Performance
The 1.4 engine is perfectly adequate, but buy the 16 valve unit if you need acceleration.

Living with it
Reliability
Superb - no problems yet and not expecting any either.
Image
Yes it's a Skoda, but it looks like a VW and better than the new goggle-eyed Polo in my opinion!
Comfort
Seats are very supportive and cabin materials are of a high standard. The engine is really quiet.

Security and Service
Security
Seems fairly secure. Standard immobiliser.
Service
Although the dealer was helpful, the car took two months longer than it should to be delivered (not just my car). Skoda need to sort out their delivery system.
