Skoda Fabia Estate (2001 - 2007) 1.9 TDI Ambiente 5d Owner Review

Very practical and economical workhorse. Was looking for a "dog transport/tip run/washing machine hauler" kind of car as a second car as I have a shiny new Alfa I don't want to ruin. Kids hate it, wife hated it (until she drove it for a week), and I love it! Something about driving a "banger" that brings a smile to my face. It's a very comfy ride, the 1.9tdi engne pulls very well, and I'm getting over 60mpg on motorway runs. Few niggles, and most are documented as fairly common, but it never feels like it's going to break down or not start. Interior simple and hard wearing, but electrics a bit hit and miss, and not up to VW/Audi quality. But I paid a few hundred quid for a car with 90k on the clock and fully stamped book (including cambelt/pump). It's ugly and a bit scraped up, but does everything I want of it.
