Summary
What does this car say about you?
I buy VW reliability but without paying VW price.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
They think it is a good value for money car ie a VW in disguise.
Would you buy this car again and why?
No. This is due to local Skoda dealers not being interested in sorting out problems. Also Skoda UK did not respond to my e.mail so I would be very reluctant to purchase another. This is unfortunate as I had always been extremely pleased with my previous models and service received.
What are you likely to buy next?
Undecided but possibly a VW.

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Franchised
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£12,500
When did you buy the car?
February 2013
Did you get a good deal and why?
The salesman was polite and courteous but did not offer anything extra. I did not feel pressured into buying.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
Having owned 2 previous skodas which I was pleased with I was happy to purchase another.
What was the dealer like?
It was a main Skoda dealership; clean reception area and comfortable.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
1.6 engine is poor compared to the 1.4 engine I previously had. I expected the larger engine to be more powerful. Road noise on some road surfaces between 20-50mph is very distracting and uncomfortable. Revs fail to drop below 1000rpm when coming to a halt.
What's it like to park?
Good all round vision and easy to park but miss parking sensors.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
Yes. Electrical fault on engine management; electrical fault on seat belt warning; electric window switch intermittently not working.
What's most practical about your car?
Good boot space and good fuel return on mileage.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
Our favourite gadget which was on our previous Skoda as standard was the rear parking sensors. Unfortunately they were not fitted as standard on our later model, although the spec is top of the range.
