Skoda Fabia vRS 1.9 TDI PD (130bhp) 5d (2004/04) Owner Review

Value
Amazing value new - as good as my previous Golf GT TDi and £6k less.
Costs
Incredible economy - average 55 mpg in mixed driving. Have to be really pressing on to drop significantly below 50 mpg and then you'll be busy looking out for speed cameras!

On the road
Driving
Not really a true hot hatch - it's much better than that. Can do long journeys in comfort with effortless pace but still has the handling to enjoy. Love to take it to Wales!
Performance
Forget the official 0-60 time - that's overstated by nearly 2 seconds (for some reason I don't understand). But more important is the mid range performance which is devastating once 2000 revs showing. Easily keeps up with so called sports cars.

Living with it
Reliability
32,000 miles on and no problems. Can't fault it.
Image
See loads more on the road now than when I first bought mine which is a shame as I liked the exclusivity. Some will never get over the badge but I think you'd be a fool to pay more just for a VW or Audi badge.
Comfort
Considering the sporting pretensions it's pretty comfortable. Noise well suppressed - I even like the growl from the engine.

Security and Service
Security
No idea - it was still on the drive when I last looked! Has remote alarm and immobiliser.
Service
Servicing is cheap, efficient and courteous.
