Summary
What does this car say about you?
someone who appreciates quality and likes something a bit different and more exciting
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
They love it, both the looks and going in it. Many people have commented on how solid and well built it is (the VW influence?) This was the model that changed people's views of Skoda and they think it lives up to that.
Would you buy this car again and why?
Yes I would buy another one, it has been great fun and low cost motoring. unfortunately Skoda no longer produce a Fabia vRS so it would need to be an Octavia or perhaps the new Fabia
What are you likely to buy next?
(new)Fabia vRS, Octavia vRS, VW Golf

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Franchise
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£8,500
When did you buy the car?
June 2009
Did you get a good deal and why?
Yes, the prices now seem higher than I paid, perhaps due to the fact that there were only 1000 of this special edition and because there is no vRS version in the new Fabia
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
Always wanted a Fabia vRS, ideal mix of performance and economy in a compact car, this one was the special edition made at the end of production of the Fabia and is Race Blue with leather interior.
What was the dealer like?
Excellent service, had plenty of time to test drive and view the car, when I went to collect it they met me at the station and the car had been fully valeted.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Absolutely fantastic! Probably the best car I have ever driven, easy clutch, beautiful gear change. Acceleration in all gears is phenomenal. Cruises easily on motorways, about 2000rpm in 6th gear at 70mph, very quiet. Engine is so responsive you have to be careful with the throttle, especially in wet weather (just as well it has got traction control)
What's it like to park?
Extremely easy to park, good mirrors and view all round, electric power steering is super-light when going slowly but stiffens up when going faster

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
Nothing at all has gone wrong...
What's most practical about your car?
IT is easy to drive around town with good visibility, easy to park and extremely economical. I also like how the tailgate opens when you press the middle button on the key. The fuel economy is amazing, I easily get 65-70mpg average and it is cheap on road tax (£120).
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
It has automatic air conditioning and climate control which is excellent. I also like the trip computer which shows average mpg and temperature, aswell as the speedometer which shows a magnified scale between 0 and 70 mph. I bought an extra alloy wheel for use as a spare as the car comes with a steel spare.
