A bit left-field. Bought for what it does rather than what badge it has.

A bit surprised until they drive it.

Would you buy this car again and why?

Yes - would love a small sports car, but until the children leave home that isn't going to happen.

What are you likely to buy next?

Not likely to change for a couple of years - but this and focus ST estate will be on the shortlist.

Did you get a good deal and why?

Reasonable deal - good part exchange and 3 years free servicing.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Good balance between practical family lugger and grown up hot hatch - and offer on ex-demonstrator.

What was the dealer like?

Fine - but will only find out if anything goes wrong.

What's it like to drive?

Bi-polar - depending on how you want to drive it. Calm and relaxed in auto mode; but quick and fun when you're in the mood. Remarkably sharp and nimble for a 1.4 estate - don't get the torque steer of some front wheel drive hot hatches, and electronic limited slip differential helps prevent understeer .

What's it like to park?

Easy.

Have you had any problems with the car?

No - used a litre of oil in first 7k; but hasn't missed a beat.

What's most practical about your car?

Running costs - the claimed 45mpg is optimistic, but 40mpg is possible in everyday driving; tax and insurance are excellent considering the performance. Can get dogs, bikes and camping gear in (with roof rack). A.great allrounder.

Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

DSG box gives flexibility for relaxed cruising or town driving in auto mode; but great fun in sport or flappy paddle modes :) i-pod and bluetooth connectivity also useful.
