I've almost rebilut the entire thing, and because it's made by VW parts can be pricy

Sluggish, handles like a milk float or a horse and cart

Reliability
The VW reliability never found its way into the model I ended up with. despite low milage i've replaced alternator, brakes (flexes, pipesl, discs, pads, rear boots) exhaust, starter motor, rear shocks, clutch, rotor arm, that's what i can remember.
