Skoda Felicia Hatchback 1.9 D GLi 5d (1998/R) Owner Review
-
Economy
Value
You get a lot for your money, heated wing mirrors are great.
Costs
Services by the main dealer here are very reasonable and the car regularly gives 52-56mpg.
-
On the road
Driving
A rather wooden feel about the ride, but predictable and safe.
Performance
Not a nippy car and 1st gear really is too low for a speedy getaway at the lights or roundabouts.
-
Living with it
Reliability
Ball joints need replacing regularly. Sunroof leaks can be a nuisance.
Image
Who cares? The face-lift grill looks ok.
Comfort
Firm seats which are surprisingly comfortable, excellent on long journeys, best I've ever sat in.

Security and Service
Security
Unknown quantity, no-one has tried to steal it yet!
Service
A small local dealer, 100% excellent service. One good reason for buying another Skoda.

Problems and Ownership
Problems
Engine
The unit actually fouls the underbonnet soundproofing so there is a booming. A great puller. No oil leaks, very economical.
Other
A well-made car, cheap, strong and reliable. An unusual bonus is that it's easy to completely remove the rear seats for a huge flat loading area, superb for carrying all manner of things, or for a camping holiday. The car does thump and bang a bit.
Ownership
