An excellent piece of transport, spoilt by an overcomplicated and intrusive computer geek. I would like a service book which I could show to the next buyer, not something that requires them to log onto some online function. The first time I wanted to use the SatNav the handbook said refer to the Skoda on-line manual. Once I fathomed how it worked, I tested the SatNav for a place I knew only 6 miles away, but it directed me to a bridle-path! The "lane assist" is infuriating. It often tries to tug the steering when mistaking repaired tarmac for lane markings. If switched off, it often switches itself on again. Many features of the infotainment I have not tried as it is too much effort to go on-line to get an instruction which has to be printed so that you can try it in the car. The basic attributes of the car such as space, performance, economy, comfort, reliability and build quality are excellent and all that I hoped for. However, the over application of computer based technology would probably cause me to think twice about a repeat buy.
Does the car do everything you expected it to do?
For all the basics such as space, ride, handling, comfort and build quality, it is excellent. However, there are many peripheral negatives such as a poor handbook (for most topics it refers you to the online manual), no service book (the on board computer said an oil change was required after 10 months and 2200 easy miles, and unnecessary computer "aids" such as the "lane assist" which will not turn off for long and repeatedly sees non-existent road markings. I would happily forgo the infotainment for a small price reduction.About their car
