Summary
What does this car say about you?
That I have the last laugh over all those VW and Audi owners who have paid thousands more for their cars!
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
No complaints - one BMW-owning friend was amazed at the quality of a 'mere' Skoda.
Would you buy this car again and why?
Yes
What are you likely to buy next?
Car is only 6 weeks old, so not thinking about next car yet, but if things go on as they are now I can't see me deserting the Skoda badge.

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Didn't buy from a dealer
Did you buy this car new?
Yes
What price did you pay?
£17,500
When did you buy the car?
March 2007
Did you get a good deal and why?
I got £4,000 off list price of £17,500 because I bought through a friend of a friend who runs a leasing business - he buys large numbers of cars each year and thus gets a very good discount from the manufacturer which has passes on to his private clients!
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
Following much research, it seemed the best car for the money.
What was the dealer like?
My car was delivered and PDId through Capitol Skkoda in Newport, Gwent. I picked it up through them and they were extremely helpful and very thorough with the handover. I will probably take my car to them for servicing, even though they are not my most local dealer.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Extremely comfortable - I have back trouble, so the endlessly-adjustable driver's seat is a godsend. It holds the road fantastically well and corners like a dream.
What's it like to park?
No problem. I think the estate has rather better rear vision than the hatchback, but the parking sensors also help. It doesn't feel like a big car - certainly no more difficult to park than the Nissan Almera that I had before.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
No - it definitely puts a smile on my face! I have driven 2,500 miles in just over a month and have no unfavourable comments to make.
What's most practical about your car?
It has loads of room for my three granddaughters and two dogs. It is also very economical to run (55mpg, only £118.00 to tax).
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
I love the rain-sensing wipers and rear parking sensors. I wasn't sure whether I would, but they are great.
