Summary
What does this car say about you?
If I said to anyone I knew well that I had bought a 1.6 diesel automatic they'd think I'd lost it! But I love it. More than anything it shows the advances made in engine production , performance and refinement recently.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
Surprised but it looks good in black with a light beige interior. I would definitely say to them check out the lower engine options when buying new. This gives me just as much pleasure as my old GTI Golf three cars ago.
Would you buy this car again and why?
Definitely, it's smooth, easy to drive, quiet, brilliantly put together, just what's needed for our ever more congested traffic conditions.
What are you likely to buy next?
Probably keep this and buy something old.

Did you get a good deal and why?
Do you ever get a good deal? But the upped what they first agreed for my Yeti and I was happy overall with the deal.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
I had previously had a 2.0 4x4 Yeti which retained its value well. I had no real need for 4x4 and Skoda were doing 0% finance on the Octavia.
What was the dealer like?
Very good, previously used with my Yeti.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
I'm really surprised having had a 2.0 diesel before. I looked at a VRS but the roads round us are so bad and my average speed in my Yeti driving from Haslemere to Crawley each day was 39 mph (!). The current 1.6 is a newer engine and I don't feel any loss in power over the Yeti, plus I am getting 60 mpg.

Have you had any problems with the car?
It's a Skoda! No, nothing.
What's most practical about your car?
A week after it came it was loaded up to the gunwales for a family get together in Norfolk. It just swallowed everything.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
I went for Elegance trim so it comes with a decent sound system and satellite navigation. Best option is the panoramic sun roof closely followed by the DSG box.
