In their own words
I have had several Skodas since 2005, both the Octavia and Superb, and found them to be very reliable and a very good specification. I sometimes have problems with my lower back, especially when driving long distances, the Skoda is very comfortable considering that I have driven to Austria and Italy on several occasions. The option to have heated front seats and good seat adjustment definitely helps with the back. I tend to go more for performance and speed as opposed to fuel consumption, especially when driving in Europe, and the 2.0 litre 190PS TSI petrol engine with the excellent DSG gear box certainly provides that. It is usually a match for quite a few of the Audis, VWs and Mercs on the European motorways. The adaptive lighting which allows you to change the headlight beam over when driving on the right is another bonus. I have the estate model due to owning a 45 kilo German Mountain dog (A Hovawart). I therefore have removable bespoke crate in the rear compartment which is ideal for transporting my dog safely including on long European journeys. When going on the long journeys I am often away for 4/5 weeks and the remainder of the exceptional space the Octavia Estate offers, including the false rear floor (great for transporting loads of dog food) allows for great storage, plus I have a good sized Thule box that goes on the roof rails. One thing it could do with is the back seats dropping down flat as one previous Octavia Estate model I had did have. Generally a very comfortable stress free drive that does what it says on the tin.
