Skoda Octavia Hatchback 1.8T Elegance 5d (2001/X) Owner Review

Economy
Value
This car was ex-fleet and had lost a huge amount of value so very cheap second-hand. Fuel economy very good for the power of engine and the size of car.
Costs
Has cost me only one 'variable' service and wont need another one for 20,000 miles. Dealer service nothing less than excellent and miles better than previous VW dealer experience.

On the road
Driving
Handling is safe and predictable rather than sporting, but that is fine.
Performance
The car has been professionally remapped by Jabbasport to give 227bhp; this gives excellent performance for very little outlay.

Living with it
Reliability
The car has been 100% reliable and only when I hit debris in the road did I have problems (punctured sump), but this was fixed prompty again with no fuss at my local dealer.
Image
To those 'in the know' it is an excellent car and got the Used Car Buyer magazine award for its sector. No one wants to scratch it or steal it, which is a bonus in my eyes.
Comfort
I am 6ft 7 and can fit in the car comfortably even with the sunroof, long journeys have been no problem including 2 recent 1500 miles trips to Germany.

Security and Service
Security
The car doesn't have the VRS badges, so consequently hasn't been of interest to any thieves. It is parked on the street and I have no concerns with VAG locks and immobiliser.
Service
Skoda are by far the best brand in the VW group. This is based on my previous ownership of SEAT and VW, family with Audi have not had my level of service.
