What does this car say about you?
It says I'm getting old thinking with my head rather than my heart.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
Mixed reviews really, they were used to the seven seater I had before. Someone commented that I may have put it through a car wash at a too hotter setting!!!
Would you buy this car again and why?
I'd buy another one with a higher spec, finances pending!!
What are you likely to buy next?
Probably a later model Octavia.

Did you get a good deal and why?
Being that the Octavia had one previous owner from new with full service history & well below 100,000 miles I couldn't negotiate a lower price for it but I managed to get some cash in part exchange for my seven seater. The Octavia sold itself really.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
I had a VW Sharan seven seater people carrier & needed to downsize due to personal reasons. I wanted something that's affordable, economical, reliable & VW engineered & I wanted to know what the fuss was all about with the Škoda Octavia.
What was the dealer like?
They offered a few hundred pounds for my seven seater & the option to claim the five months road tax I had left on it. They were friendly but they're there to run a business.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
For a 90 bhp tdi engine it pulls very well & cruises with ease on the motorways no problem but it could do with cruise control. The steering, suspension & brakes work very well on the A roads & around town which adds to the comfort.
What's it like to park?
The car isn't particularly big to handle so I find parking relatively easy.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
Despite it being a twelve year old car which runs & drives very well & returns at least 50 mpg the central locking on the passenger side rear door has failed. The door won't unlock!!
What's most practical about your car?
The boot space is very commodious for a standard hatchback.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
The air con works well but then the six cd autochanger is nice to have as well.
