In their own words
Well I took this car on a business Lease and once I understood that the Eco mode was fine for cruising it certainly made it slow off the mark. Had a couple of close shaves trying to pull out of a junction between traffic with this, but what was more terrifying was that whilst you had your foot to the metal trying to get it to move a bit faster, it would suddenly take off like a rocket and you need to switch to the other pedal! However this is driver error and all this dissapears in sport mode and the power is there from the get go and there is oodles of it from the 184bhp unit. The DGS box lets you easily slip it into sport mode any time. I still drive generally in Eco mode but for a quick get away a tap of the gear level unleashes the power delivery and everything is good with the world.
It is not a sports car but a very roomy & comfy utility car. Leased for 3 yrs and extended it as long as they would let me. Love the car but sadly not made any longer and the new SUV's carrying this badge are just not upi to it in my opinion. I have just found a 6 month old low milage Octavia Scout, probably one of the last ones, and bought it so that I would not need to send it back in 3-4years time.
The styling, finishes and power train are enough to separate this from the countless Octavia taxi's out there and for me, even the VRS doesnt quite hit the mark against this, although it is pretty close;-) Not sure how things are going to pan out for diesels over the coming years so it might take a hit in value in the future, but for now, ENJOY.
