Summary
What does this car say about you?
I'm like my car. You might glance over it and and dismiss it until it flies past you and makes you think again. It's the thinking person's Audi and capable of driving in lane 1, and using lanes 2 & 3 for overtaking unlike Audis and BMWs.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
Those in the know like it and happy to have a drive. Those who don't rarely give it a second glance, which is fine, doesn't draw attention to itself which keeps it safe.
Would you buy this car again and why?
Yes, already looking at a MkII for next year.
What are you likely to buy next?
Skoda vRS MkII.

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Independent
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£0
When did you buy the car?
January 2013
Did you get a good deal and why?
Yes I did. I had a Lancer Sport which was a cracking little car but I could never get quite comfortable in it. We more or less did a straight swap, which is unusual for a dealer, but we were both happy.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
I've had many cars over the years, but never a Skoda. My partner has the Limited Edition Fabia VRS and I have to admit that I have been duly impressed both with its performance and its reliability. I'm quite tall, so I decided that when the next opportunity came I would look at the Octavia version as it has a little more legroom, not that the Fabia is bad, but does tell on a long journey.
What was the dealer like?
I'd buy from him again, no hesitation. Very honest.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Well, if you know your stuff, then you'll know these are one of the best kept secrets. If you don't - time to educate yourself. Lots of grunt, especially in the upper gears/rev range. Doesn't pull away like the Fabia, but soon on it's tail.....
What's it like to park?
Fine, especially with the parking sensors. The boot and spoiler are quite high and the centre headrest a little intrusive but the rear sensors compensate nicely.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
Just one thing. The driver's wing mirror stopped adjusting. I can live with it, it doesn't move and is set where I need it.
What's most practical about your car?
Huge boot, good seating for 4, drop the era seats and there's even more room for those occasional large purchases.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
The bolt on tow hook. Not that I will ever use it, in fact I don't think it ever has been, but there if needed and no ugly hook showing at the rear.
