Summary
What does this car say about you?
For those in the know it says that I've still got a pulse and want to enjoy a good drive but that the practicalities of life need dealing with as well. For those not in the know they probably don't even notice - it is a pretty anonymous looking car.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
'Blimey, it goes a bit doesn't it!' Also tidy nice family car. It is a bit of a Jekyll and Hyde car I guess.
Would you buy this car again and why?
Not this one but the newer model I would. I probably won't not because of the car but because I am looking for a change.
What are you likely to buy next?
Heart is winning at the moment so maybe an Alfa Romeo Giulietta.

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Independent
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£4,500
When did you buy the car?
November 2008
Did you get a good deal and why?
Traded in a beat up old Golf. 'Price to change' was ok and certainly competitive locally.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
Wanted something that I could fit kids in and all their stuff but still had a bit of 'go' for me.
What was the dealer like?
Ok, not fantastically efficient but friendly enough. Car was delivered valeted and serviced.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Great oomph. Overtaking manoeuvres are dealt with quickly and safely. So progress is as rapid as you like. Handling is tidy and safe too.
What's it like to park?
No problems there. Rear view is a little obscured by rear spoiler but I find placing the car pretty easy. No parking sensors on it though.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
Normal wear and tear items are stiarting to give up the ghost - it has done 101k miles now. So I've had front springs replaced - I'm sure they would have lasted longer if there were fewer pot-holes and sleeping policemen in our roads. Discs all round were done in the last few months. For non-wear and tear the engine management light is constantly coming on. Local trusted garage can't get that to stay off and have confirmed there is nothing wrong with the car. I'm now ignoring it based on the advice that if it runs ok, sounds ok and mpg remains ok it is fine.
What's most practical about your car?
Space is amazing. Not had a situation yet when I have run out of room for what I need to shift. With seats down there are acres of space. Estate must be huge!
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
6 CD changer. That's about it. Don't get many options with this model.
