Summary
What does this car say about you?
I know my cars and I know what I want from a car. I think it also shows that I like to have a bit of fun.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
They love it. A lot of my friends have been drooling over it and a lot of people can't believe how I got a car like that at the price I paid for it.
Would you buy this car again and why?
Definitely, though I may go for a manual transmission next time only because it's what I'm used to. The DSG gearbox is very good though and is not to be underestimated.
What are you likely to buy next?
I intend to keep this car for some time so I'm not sure yet, but probably the newer generation VRS.

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Franchised
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£13,500
When did you buy the car?
January 2013
Did you get a good deal and why?
I got a very good part exchange price for my older Octavia Sport. The car was also serviced, given it's first MOT, valeted and even refuelled before I collected it. I was also given Skoda's comprehensive extended warranty.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
I've wanted one for a long time in the unique Race Blue colour.
What was the dealer like?
Brilliant. I've bought cars from them in the past and had all of my servicing done there too. I was allowed to properly test drive the car without being accompanied. Everything was simple, easy and hassle free and I would recommend this dealership to anyone.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
I love driving this car, it puts a smile on my face everytime. I've never had an automatic before but I love the DSG gearbox and occasionally use it in steptronic mode. It also has 'flappy panel' gear changes behind the steering wheel. The ride is comfortable and makes it a great car for cruising. The engine and DSG gearbox are incredibly responsive and surprisingly economical too. Acceleration is rapid and smooth and I often achieve a combined fuel consumption of 50mpg, sometimes more. It really is an all round winner.
What's it like to park?
Easy! The mirrors are massive and it has front and rear parking sensors with different tones to define each end of the car. There is also a visual display that appears on the touch screen media system to show how close the car is to other objects.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
Nothing. Drives and feels like new. This is my second Octavia now and my first one proved Skoda's (VW's) bullet proof reliability.
What's most practical about your car?
The boot is huge and there are storage compartments everywhere, some of which are still empty because I have nothing to fill them with yet.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
Where do I start? There are so many useful gadgets. The automatic lights and wipers work very well. The multi-function steering wheel is brilliant and the touch screen Bolero media sound system is easy to use as well as modern looking.
