Summary
What does this car say about you?
It says I can appreciate the cars credentials but see no reason to pay the VW/Audi group premium simply because of badge snobbery.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
They love it. Most people has been well impressed by the overall package. One Audi A4 owner sat in it and said with horror "It's all Audi!!"
Would you buy this car again and why?
I am very happy so far. If you appreciate something sporty but don't want it to get everyones attention then you will love it. It's the type of car that people in the know appreciate (be prepared for the nod of acknowledgement from others who know what it is) whilst chav's aren't interested.
What are you likely to buy next?
Depends on what ridiculous taxes the government bring in next....we will probably all be driving pedal cars in a few years time!

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Independent
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£10,450
When did you buy the car?
July 2008
Did you get a good deal and why?
Got a great deal - good starting price and trade on my old car. Did look into buying one new a couple of times but dealers were often very reticent to haggle (and in one case downright rude) so walked away. Happy to buy second hand and let someone else pay for the first 2 years depreciation whilst still having some warranty left.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
Wanted something to replace my 8 year old Ford Focus
What was the dealer like?
Excellent independant dealer - friendly and fair. Didn't go away feeling bullied like so many franchised dealers try to make you feel.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Very surefooted handling, well poised and the engine is a pleasure - nice and refined when driving around town, but goes like stink when you want to press on.
What's it like to park?
High rear end and spoiler means rear visibility isn't great, but rear parking sensors help out!

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
Aerodynamic noise from rear window at over 60mph which was fixed no problem under warranty. Dealer was very thorough, much more so than any Ford dealer I ever took my previous car to. 18" alloys all too easy to scuff!! One or two other minor problems but the Skoda dealer seems pretty efficient.
What's most practical about your car?
Massive boot and good interior space.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
Cruise control and rear parking sensors.
