Other Skoda Octavia (2013 - 2020) models:

  • Summary

    5 out of 5 5.0

What does this car say about you?

Yet another mid-life (late) crisis?? Hopefully sporty, practicable and sensible.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

All the family like it but we got over the badge "thing" a long time ago. Some ribbing from male friends but even they admit for the money, you get one hell of a car.

Would you buy this car again and why?

Most definitely. Best car I've had yet. practicable, sporty when needed, with economy and low running costs. Skoda now offer an "expndables" package for monthly fee, includes replacement tires, bulbs, wipers etc.

What are you likely to buy next?

The same unless Skoda introduces a better alternative in 4 years time!

  • Buying experience

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Franchised

Did you buy this car new?

    Yes

    What price did you pay?

    £24,020

When did you buy the car?

    June 2014

Did you get a good deal and why?

Paid about right for the new car. They had the model i was after already in stock (not a demo) but didn't have satnav (which i dont use anyway) so snapped it up.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Skodas are reliable and good value for money.

    What was the dealer like?

Extremely friendly, courteous, gave me a good deal on my trade in, and bent over backwards to get the car to us for our holidays.

  • Driving it

    5 out of 5 5.0

    What's it like to drive?

Cruises easily on motorways with that added oomph for overtaking when needed yet now giving 55-60mpg on motorways & dual carriageways. Sporty set up when needed, accurate steering, yet sedate enough to cruise long distances. Lane assist takes some getting used to though (but you can turn it off).

    What's it like to park?

Easier than the Yeti believe it or not, I always reverse park and have no difficulty. Judging the front end distance to the last few inches can be tricky - opt for front parking sensors if you're a "drive-in parker"!

  • Living with it

    5 out of 5 5.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

    Nothing

What's most practical about your car?

Massive boot space, I traded in my 18 month old Yeti because the boot space is so poor, especially if you have rear seat passenger and cant lower the rear seats. Sporty AND practical. Suitable for a mid-life crisis.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Bluetooth connection, automatic lights & wipers. Selective drive mode.
