Summary
What does this car say about you?
Hopefully it says that I appreciate quiality but not to the point that I'm a slave to badge snobbery. Skoda seems to have been accepted as a smart way to get VAG quality at a great price.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
They all love it. Not one person has had anything other than positive things to say about it. Also several people mistook it, not for a Passat, but for a Phaeton....
Would you buy this car again and why?
Absolutely! Assuming the running cost remain acceptable (I do around 20k p/a), I have every intention of buying another in 3 years, but possible a higher spec and/or estate instead.
What are you likely to buy next?
Another of the same or a Elegance spec estate Superb.

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Independent
Did you buy this car new?
Yes
What price did you pay?
£22,500
When did you buy the car?
August 2011
Did you get a good deal and why?
Bought via the Motabilty scheme so not really relevent.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
Purchased via the Motability scheme.
What was the dealer like?
Outstanding. Exceptionally friendly, not at all pushy. I had previously bought a different make of car from the same dealer as they sell several.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Excellent. Outstanding refinement and a real feeling of being 'planted' on the road. Handles far better than you would ever imagine for a car of it's size and yet remains comfortable on all sorts of roads.
What's it like to park?
With the standard rear sensors on the SE model, I can't see why any competent driver should have any issues. However it is near 5m long so the laws of physics do apply.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
Early days yet but no production issues or faults have been found so far.
What's most practical about your car?
Amazing amount of cabin and boot space! Given that the dimensions are much the same as a Passat, Mondeo or Insignia, I'm not sure how Skoda have managed this.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
Has to be the Twin Door boot opening. Very, very useful indeed.
