Skoda Superb Hatchback (2015 - 2023) 2.0 TDI CR (190bhp) SE L Executive 4X4 5d DSG Owner Review

In their own words
I feel like a row with Skoda is coming on! I’ve had one of their new Superb range from new 2 ½ years ago on a lease deal and in 6 months hand it back to them. It’s been a really wonderful car in that time ….but …A ‘winter free check-up’ at Derek Slack dealership today revealed they want nearly £1000 to deal with brake disc/pad problems, they say, and tyres only half worn after 20,000 miles at 4mm of tread, and a replacement single rear screen wiper blade they say costs 20 quid! I say go and screw yourself!
The unsuspecting ‘daft old blokes’ out there and ‘ less experienced in car engineering’ female owners might be pressurised and think they need this work doing, but as I told the women on the reception desk 52 years of car ownership and interest in cars generally is a lifetime of experience I’ve got already that tells me they are pulling my plonker. Either that or they are using inferior quality parts!
The thing is every time I go to buy another car no-one wants to speak about cars, they want to elaborate deeply on the complicated finance deals they can offer you!! Trust me, you can get a car cheaper on a loan deal in the first instance than you can by paying cash upfront. Howso? Well you take the loan deal with all the added benefits, cashback and final lower reduced price to you ….then after a very short time before the loan actually starts you pay the balance off in cash in full and that’s the cheapest way to make your purchase.
I told a salesmen several years ago who was giving me the financial run-around how the pleasure of getting another motor was substantially reduced by him not talking cars to me but focussing on the deal. He said well I’m a salesman…I don’t actually know very much about cars in particular!!!!!
Oh, I said who pays for this work bearing in mind the warranty on it? They said you do! Priceless eh? Engineering that can only hold up for 20k miles. I wouldn’t care, I love the car; it’s almost the best driving experience I’ve had from the VW backed manufacturer and the Superb in particular that was Car Of The Year recently.
How reliable do you find the car?
patronising dealership experience! There's nowt wrong with the car. It's the deal that stinks. If there is something wrong 'you' fix it in 6 months when I hand it back to you.About their car
