Skoda Yeti Hatchback (2009-2017) verdict
Should you buy a used Skoda Yeti?
Any lingering snobbishness about a Skoda badge has long been dispatched to history now, thanks in no small part to the fabulous Yeti. Some may not like the looks, but there’s no denying it’s a very useful, capable and appealing family car with the commonly available option of all-wheel drive for those who need extra traction – something many modern SUVs do without entirely.
You’ll find plenty of used Skoda Yetis for sale, meaning there are lots to choose from – which should make dodging any bad apples a relatively pain-free experience. As these cars are getting on a bit now you do need to be a little selective. To reiterate our earlier advice, be sure to check that all the electronics work properly, examine the bodywork carefully for rust or redone paintwork (which might also indicate off-road abuse or accident damage), and only consider buying a used Yeti if it has a comprehensive service record supported by paperwork and a good MOT history.
Choose wisely and you’ll have a pragmatic and enjoyable family car that should serve you well for many years to come. In fact, be quick, or we might just buy it ourselves before you get there.
