Smart Forfour (2004 - 2006) 1.1 Passion 5d Owner Review
Want to know everything there is to know about this car?
In their own words
This is my 2nd smart forfour, my last one got written off as someone crashed into it! Being as it was only worth a few hundred quid the insurance wrote it off! So I brought another one. Had to travel over 100 miles to collect it as these are getting fewer. I service it every 2 years. The only issue I have with it is a dodgy fuel level, I put 20 litres (approx £25) in and to 200 miles. Then when it’s a full tank I do 350 miles. In the winter it sometimes freezes the interior windscreen. Changing a headlight bulb takes about 40 mins as you have to do it from underneath the wheel arch and you need to have a lot of patience!! Argh!! Side lights need a very small hand to fit the bulb (missus does this)! Those are the only annoying things with it. Now the good:- It’s cheap to run. Tax £155. Insurance £185. Easy to park, it’ll literally fit into any gap even gaps when other cars seem to think they need 2 spaces to park! Seats are very supportive with height and lumber support. It’s nippy, it’ll happily bob along at 75mph effortlessly. No need to drop the gears to power it as it’s already in the powerband at this pace so it’ll happily overtake. It’s got a great engine note as it’s a 3 cylinder car. Rear seats move forward/back for seat or boot space. Easily fits the weekly shop in. I get 6 bags for life next to each other before having to double stack them. Now got the awesome stuff:- They’re unique. They’re Mercedes. Stand out from the crowd in an awesome looking motor for money you won’t miss. Why pay monthly payments on a car when you can own one of these for less than £2,000. Mine cost £550.
