Summary
What does this car say about you?
Very odd. Its quirky and highly unusual.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
Its definitely a 'Marmite Car' you either really love it or really hate it. Most say its rubbish and a gimmick. I find people with taste really appreciate the oddity of it.
Would you buy this car again and why?
Yes. Because it is so different and far better the its sister the Colt.
What are you likely to buy next?
Smart Roadster or another Forfour possibly a Passion fully spec'd out. Maybe a Mini Clubman at a push.

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Franchise
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£6,495
When did you buy the car?
March 2007
Did you get a good deal and why?
My forfour is a mid-range Pulse not a Pure. I feel I did it was going to be ticketed at 7000 but hadn't gone onto the forecourt yet so got a discount. Had air-con, leather, auto box, metallic paint.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
Practical, efficient, low insurance and very very different.
What was the dealer like?
Very good and knowledgeable. I would recommend only buying from a Smart/Mercedes dealership as they will advise on the quirks of the car.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Very quick off the mark, so much so if your not careful you'll spin the wheels. Auto mode is good but a bit lumpy until you get used to controlling it. But manual mode is sweet and smooth, very quick response. Grips superbly and stops well. Great at churning up the motorway miles and fine plodding thru town. Plus it copes well with a full load.
What's it like to park?
Interesting, I'm over six foot and can't see the nose plus A and D pillars are fairly large so hinder visibility but fits easily into most spaces.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
Luckily not. Its plastic so doesn't dent.
What's most practical about your car?
The sliding bench at the rear allows for good legroom for passengers or better stowage space in the boot. The doors are light and easy to use. Plus I am well over six foot and sit comfortably in the driving seat.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
Hmmm... I would say air con as always is essential plus heated leather seats, summer and winter sorted. ESP TCS ABS you've got TLA's needed for safety.
