I have just done a spreadsheet of the costs since I bought it at 2200 miles, now 86,000. If I binned it now 18p per mile for purchase, £0 road tax, insurance (almost tripled in 10 years), maintenance with local mercedes specialist.
So a good time to write a review
We have scratched the plastic body parts, usually on the wall outside our garage , and not replaced them. Our alloys need a bit of refurb' but I put it off.
The car didn't start once, only - because I had left the overhead light on for two days.
The wind noise (cabriolet) at speed above the passenger has got worse in the last few years, but we rarely go further than 55 miles away from home.
Both my daughters learned to drive in it; semi automatic. You can't use it for a driving test!
I didn't actually want a cabriolet , but we enjoyed having it for those few occasions when the sun shone; you can also take the bars out above the door in seconds , and they slot into spaces in the boot...we've done that once/twice.
How reliable do you find the car?
the belt came off on a trip, in nov 14. AA brought it home, not an ordinary belt!
The air con stopped working 4-5 years ago , we decided not to investigate, it is a cabriolet.
The brake pipes were all replaced in 2023, after they leaked, the biggest bill.
Does the car do everything you expected it to do?
when I bought it , I guessed it would last 5 years, we are now into the 11th year and with current car prices will probably keep it a few more.
