Smart Roadster Coupe (2003 - 2007) Brabus 2d Auto Owner Review
Want to know everything there is to know about this car?
In their own words
These are rare cars so you have to travel to get a good one. I found this one 250 miles away and was apprehensive about the return journey in such a small car. I needn't have been, they are more than capable of motorway travel and the tweaked one I bought is pretty quick for a 700cc.
I went in a bit blind but knew mine had been looked after by an enthusiast but it's worth checking the buyers guide on the roadster.net. I've had new brake pipes and front springs fitted since just to keep it in good order. Mine also had a host of upgrades, the best being a remap and a very expensive raid steering wheel both of which transform the feel of the car.
As a weekend car its a wonderful thing to own and drive with a feeling that you are driving an mini exotic. It's on a twisty b roads they come into their own, they can carry enormous speed through bends if you are brave enough. It put up a pretty good show when following a McLaren 720s a while back and I'm not making that up. As a daily driver it's a bit compromised but some do use them as such.
Don't believe what you read about exploding engines etc. Well maintained these can be very reliable and can cover big mileages and should things go wrong there are plenty of specialists to look after them.
I got lucky with the first one I saw but choose carefully and aim for a higher priced example with a full history and you won't regret it.
Does the car do everything you expected it to do?
