SsangYong Korando e-Motion (2022-2024) verdict
Should you buy one?
It’s a difficult car to desire, the SsangYong Korando e-Motion. The ungainly looks don’t help (though it’s a lot less gopping in a dark colour) but it also suffers being a brand nobody’s ever heard of. You won’t attract too many admiring glances at the charging station in a Korando e-Motion.
On a purely pragmatic level, it’s a spacious, cheap-to-run and good-value EV with a reasonable range and more than enough performance for most. The lack of grip would scare us – hopefully it was just our test model’s tyres – and we’d find it quite difficult to overlook cheaper models from more established brands such as the MG ZS EV or even the smaller MG 4.
The sheer availability of the Korando might seal it for you, though – if all you need is an electric car, quickly, then this could be the model for you.
What we like
It’s roomy inside, and we always appreciate an electric car that achieves close to its claimed range figures.
What we don’t like
Poor cornering performance is irritating most of the time and worrying some of the time. We’d be approaching roundabouts with trepidation.
