SsangYong Korando (2011 - 2019) 2.0 SX 4WD 5d Owner Review
Want to know everything there is to know about this car?
In their own words
I needed something bigger than my suzuki sx4 as a third child on the way. The usual suspects (RAV 4, CRV, GRAND VITARA, SPORTAGE, ETC) were way more expensive and generally had more mileage and less features and still cost more. Found a korando that ticked all the boxes - 4x4, chunky roof rails for my crossbars, touchscreen with sat nav, good room inside and decent boot. Reverse sensors and alarm too. Usual things for the kids - child locks, ability to disable front passenger air bag, good leg room, ability to stop windows opening and decent storage dotted around. Curtain airbags all round and nice height for getting them in and fastening them up. I'd prefer a more square suv for time I got a settee in it but they've gone out of fashion unfortunately. I got 50 mpg on my 2 hour run home after I bought it.
I just find it a good looking, powerful, spacious suv that's a lovely cruiser.
Don't be too put off by parts as I've managed to get all I need so far. You can't just take it in a garage and let them get parts as garages have a few suppliers and they don't tend to stock ssangyong parts. I've used Ebay and autodoc to get what I need. Also, join ssangyong UK owners on Facebook for help from fellow owners and a great parts guy!
How reliable do you find the car?
Age related wearables - radiator developed a slow leak, handbrake shoes worn, coil spring snapped, prop shafts bearing worn, a nutt came a bit loose in steering assembly (something like that anyway).
Does the car do everything you expected it to do?
More powerful than anticipated and had rear parking sensors and an alarm which I didn't expect.
