SsangYong Korando (2011 - 2019) 2.2 SE (04/17-) 5d Owner Review

In their own words
So, I read all the 'professional' reviews - and still bought the car anyway. Dealing with the criticisms, yes, 1st to 2nd is a bit notchy, yes, the suspension is a bit soft (but driving on the pot holed gravel tracks that I regularly do is now a joy!), the engine may not be as refined as some and the interior may not match that of a premium brand. But let's remember I paid £15,950 for a 2.2D. I can now comfortably tow my 1500KG caravan. None of the the other similar sized SUV's with the 1.5 or 1.7 engines can do this, and would all cost considerably more. Dacia Duster? About the same price but, again, a 1.5D with only around 110BHP versus the Korando's 178BHP - no comparison.
Sure, it doesn't handle like a GTI, and I've no doubt that the similar power of a Evoque would be be an equal in towing and a much better ride, but for the money I really don't think there's much to criticise. I've got all the gadgets I need, get around 42MPG, have got a 7 year warranty, and, compared to a similar spec'd Sportage or Quashqai (which wouldn't be anything like as powerful) have still got around £10k in my bank account.
I really can't fault it. One happy customer!
