SsangYong Rexton (2003 - 2013) 270 Xdi S 5d Owner Review
Want to know everything there is to know about this car?
In their own words
Parkers review of this car seems to have a rather negative bias. I own the pale blue 2.7 in the media photos (XVB). The Rexton is incredibly cheap secondhand compared to its rivals, mine cost less than £1k on a 04 plate in 2015. The car returns good economy despite what the article says, I have tracked 20k miles and averaged 33mpg, something that the Shogun, Range Rover, or most other full size 4x4s cannot achieve. It's goes well for its weight and the rear wheel drive is entertaining/worrying once the momentum of swinging it's bulk around kicks in. The article says the boot is tiny but that is simply not the case, I have a Sorento in the family too, and the Rexton's boot is easily twice, the size. It is simply massive. The turning circle is in fact appalling though, contradicting the article again. The ride comfort is fine, even with my questionable dampers. Mine has been utterly reliable, having the engine from the Sprinter, it has only needed a turbo, injectors and a clutch but it is at 160k. I wanted to replace it but I just can't find anything suitable that I like, I considered an E53 X5 but they seem just too small inside and too thirsty.
How reliable do you find the car?
Clutch, turbo, injectors, thermostat, glow plugs. All relevant to its mileage.Does the car do everything you expected it to do?
Pulls trailers, fits family, fits bikes, fits 4 big dogs, fits DIY supplies, goes across fields, doesn't look as tragic as an MPV.About their car
