Subaru Impreza STi (2008-2008) boot space, practicality and safety
The Impreza was one of the first models to undergo Euro NCAPs more stringent crash tests in 2009. The new overall rating covers not only adult occupant safety but includes child and pedestrian safety along with a rear impact whiplash test. The Subaru scored four stars out of five which is respectable and the STi comes with six airbags as standard (including side and curtain airbags) plus electronic brakeforce distribution, emergency brake assist and Isofix child mountings in the rear.
Security is a key issue too which is why the STi comes with a Thatcham category 1 remote alarm and immobiliser plus a satellite security tracking system.
Unlike previous Impreza models, this one is a hatchback so it offers better luggage space and the ability to fold down the rear seats to carry larger items. The boot itself is 301 litres, however, this is quite small for a hatch of this size (for example the Ford Focus has 385 litres) and it’s not helped by a high boot floor. On the plus side there’s a decent amount of stowage up front.
