Subaru Legacy Sports Tourer (2003 - 2009) 2.0 RE 5d Owner Review

2.0ltr. RE Tourer. It’s the uncomplicated non turbo. Bought on eBay for very modest sum having done 85K. Drove it back from Liverpool to South Wales in storm and was surprised just how stable, safe and solid it was plus the all-wheel drive of course. Everything works from electric drivers seat to heated washer bottle - not many16 year old cars can say that. Just after I had it I drove it to Antwerp for a sports event with three big guys and heap full of gear. Went like a dream despite 30 degree temps and 2 hour start stop queue on R1. The huge sun roof is amazing and a/c ice cold. Body work pretty good with few war wounds here and there (owned by a vet before).
My dog (American Bull dog) loves it.
Only drawbacks are fuel and tax, but worth it for the build and reliability. Had a few wear and tear jobs done at annual MOT’s, and had to fork out for new twin exhaust (ouch!) at last MOT. Will hang onto it and run it into the ground.
To be honest it’s better built than my main car a new Merc 200AMG!
