Subaru XV 2012-

Want to know everything there is to know about this car?

In their own words

It feels well put together. It`s tough yet comfortable. Has the power to keep up with the traffic. Pulls like a train. I never get backache or feel fatigued through driving. Cruises well on motorways and fast A and B roads.

Heated seats a bonus but infotainment system poor. Doesn’t import my contact telephone numbers from my iPhone but did from Android.

Fuel economy good but dealer recommended premium diesel only as cleaner so fuel costs high. Servicing and maintenance costs high in comparison with previous cars such as Peugeot 2008 HDi but engineering standard on another level.

Low centre of gravity ensures the car feels planted so little body roll through the corners.
In the event of a nuclear war or zombie apocalypse I fee sure this would get through it.

Could do with heated steering wheel for those cold winter mornings and would benefit from parking sensors especially in poor visibility when the camera just can’t cope.

Overall I am a Subaru evangelist - just a shame they no longer do a diesel. Will probably go for an Outback next time.

How reliable do you find the car?

Had to have the DPF cleaned out and replace a rear bearing (a common problem it seems) but otherwise all good.

Does the car do everything you expected it to do?

Great in the rain, snow, mud and floods. Never feels strained even when fully loaded. Hasn’t got hill descent control but simply walks down steep hills. I say “It torques the torque and walks the walk” (see what I did there?)
