Suzuki Liana Hatchback (2001-2007) engines, drive and performance

There’s only one – a 1.6 – and it does the job. A bit rough by modern standards and it needs revving which emphasises the roughness. Adequate with manual transmission, but the automatic option saps power and makes Liana stodgy to drive. Suzuki don’t publish performance figures, which is telling.
Softly sprung, lots of bodyroll in corners, tyre squeal at moderate speed around roundabouts. Yet the ride is poor to the point of discomfort on bad surfaces.
