Suzuki Swift (1992 - 2003) 1.0 GLS 3d Owner Review
Want to know everything there is to know about this car?
In their own words
Boot space is limited, seatbelts wear out, carpet in drivers footwell wears out ,door rubbers need keeping an eye on. Lots of trim rattle. It's not a quick car but it can sometimes hit a ton. Servicing requirements are minimal ,been using thicker than recommended oil since I got it 9.5 years ago. It's been the most reliable car I've ever owned. Official parts are very expensive. Bucket type seats reduce visibility and are designed for people with half a backside. Most of the buttons are obscured by the steering wheel. It felt wide and heavy when I first got it ,I got used to it eventually,I wouldn't want bigger. And I couldn't handle a smaller boot capacity. Only had passengers in the back less than 2 times a year. It's not a happy car when full of people, that's why it has 3 doors. Rear doors on small cars are totally pointless in my opinion. If something is going to go wrong it gives plenty of warning in horrible sounds before the part breaks off giving time to get round to getting something done about it. Bumpers are surprisingly strong, recommend getting aluminium front number plate. Would be great to get it to 200k, maybe optimistic, but I did see one on a m plate the other day.
How reliable do you find the car?
2019 After fixing brakes, I drove it hard to test them and I broke the gearbox. Door seals can let in water ,making the sills rot. HT leads every few years. New oil and filter every 10k Air filter if anyone's got one in stock, otherwise hoover it. Engine is still great, emissions still spot on. Back exhaust in 2012 and 2018 Mid exhaust in 2015 Radiator needed replacing in 2011About their car
