Suzuki Swift Hatchback (2010 - 2017) 1.2 SZ3 3d Owner Review

In their own words
The Swift is a fantastic little car with plenty of grunt being shunted out of the little 1.2 litre petrol engine. The handling is superb, chucking the car into a corner is a delight and it is incredibly difficult to get the rear end unstuck - so fast changes of direction are a doddle. My only complaint is the lack of aux port (despite there being a USB aux which doesn't work with modern android devices) and the common mechanical faults with the gearbox. Currently, my input shaft bearing is on it's way to the graveyard as well as a noticeable whine in first and second.
Sump plug ceased up (but the dipstick hole is large enough for an oil-sucker), yet to investigate the plugs on the gearbox.
How reliable do you find the car?
The car is rather resillient, but there is a common problem with the gearbox whining and, currently, the input shaft bearing is on it's way to destruction. Re-conditioned gearboxes aren't highly reccomended - seemingly the best way would be to buy another bearing and DIY, tearing down the gearbox yourself. First and Second also whine a fair bit and there is resistance when switching between them, leading me to believe that either the gears themselves are damaged or they're out of alignment.Does the car do everything you expected it to do?
I expected a rather slow car, considering the 1.2 litre engine and near 13-second quoted 0-60 time, however, what I got was a little rocket. Immensely fun to drive whilst being quite efficient. I just wish it had a 6th gear to help with motorway efficiencyAbout their car
