Suzuki SX4 Saloon (2009-2011) boot space, practicality and safety
The SX4 saloon hasn’t itself been crash tested by Euro NCAP but the hatchback was and scored four stars out of the maximum five, which is decent score for a small car like this. All models come with driver, passenger, side and curtain airbags – an impressive tally for a car of this price – plus Isofix child seat mounting points, side impact protection beams, deadlocks and an engine immobiliser.
Unlike the standard SX4 hatch, the saloon isn’t available with four-wheel-drive but it features the same practical and well-built cabin. There are large pockets on all four doors complete with bottle holders while the rear seats split and fold 60/40 allowing you to transport larger loads. The boot itself is large with 515 litres of luggage space – that’s almost double the size of the SX4 hatch and actually more than an Audi A4.
The boot does have quite a pronounced load lip though, which is fairly high off the ground and although the boot opening is wide, it’s not very tall, so you could struggle with boxy items.
