Suzuki Vitara 1.6 DDiS SZ5 ALLGRIP 5d Owner Review

In their own words
Purchased because I wanted a 4x4, but also needed decent fuel economy due to the distances I cover for work. This car is a mile muncher, will return 65-75mpg at steady motorway speeds and does 55mpg average for me across a month. This is calculated by how much fuel I buy and not relying on the trip computer. Easily getting 520+ miles between fill ups.
Handling is great. Behaves very well on the roads. Not as bouncy as my old Grand Vitara as it's not really designed as an off road vehicle. Keep reading though!
I bought this variety (Allgrip) as I do a bit of offroad driving/driving long distances in snow. I am REALLY surprised how well this car performs in mud, even with road tyres on. The rear diff locks and I was able to get over a really slippery, badly rutted, steep hill with no problems. Not a Defender, but find me a defender that'll also handle well on the road and do 70mpg!
Trim has been criticised as cheap feeling. I don't think it is. Plastics are a bit shiney, but has some nice design touches in the cabin. Half leather seats. Touch screen stereo/sat nav system. Mine has an analogue clock.Climate control. Self adjusting headlights. Reverse camera - minor criticism that it isn't as clever as some reverse cameras with the lines that change when you turn the steering wheel. Some people like this, I still prefer to look over my shoulder so I can see where I'm going!
Bought with 19k on the clock, 13 months old. Former reps car, owned by carstore.com (Evans Halshaw). Clutch and flywheel replaced shortly after purchase. Would have cost £2k if Evans Halshaw hadn't covered the costs. My local Suzuki dealer were great, kept me well informed of the repair and the car came back better than ever. No issues since.
