Suzuki Wagon-R+ 1.2 GL 5d (1998/S) Owner Review
-
Economy
Value
It's cheap and it works. Published MPG figures are aboslute nonsense though. Does about 40mpg at best.
Costs
Servicing by main dealer is astronomical. Genuine parts are very pricey and replica parts virtually impossible to find.

On the road
Driving
Only car I have spun off the road. Very scary on tight bends.
Performance
It's no sportscar, quick in low gears though. Guzzles fuel on motorways.

Living with it
Reliability
Always starts. Brakes are VERY problematic.
Image
You don't buy it for looks.
Comfort
Ok for a run-around.
-
Security and Service
Security
No alarm, but who would try to steal it?
Service
Suzuki aftersales services is very, very bad. They are generally reliable so they do not know how to deal with complaints.

Problems and Ownership
Problems
Engine
Very reliable.
Other
The brakes are terrible. Rear brake drums failed very early on. Got no joy out of local dealer or Suzuki customer services. VERY expensive repair bill due to costly spares. This is a very common fault on early models. Design fault leads to corrosion.
Ownership
Did you buy the car new?
New
Would you buy the same model again?
No
Did you buy from the same manufacturer again?
Yes
