Economy
Value
For a Japanese car in this class, excellent. A genuine small family car, with serious load lugging capabilities and a tardis like interior, much better value than your typical small hatch.
Costs
42 MPG urban from a 1.3, this is diesel economy from a petrol, but not much better at 70 MPH + on the motorway due to its tall shape. DIY servicing easy & parts reasonable.

On the road
Driving
Superb once you've got going, but racy engine & light clutch make for a jerky start in 1st gear, but you soon get used to it.
Performance
Good turn of speed, but will comfortably drive in 5th gear at 25 MPH, giving a feeling that it needs another gear at motorway speeds.

Living with it
Reliability
In short, absolutely bullet proof! Get a well serviced one and worry not, it won't let you down.
Image
If you are bothered about image in a car, you won't be reading this anyway.
Comfort
Not plush, but a very comfortable driving position due to its height and four adults have plenty of leg and head room.

Security and Service
Security
Immobiliser, but who the hell is going to want to nick one of these.
Service
None, I either service myself or use an independent garage.
